Pork Rinds
Before pretzels, before potato chips, before Popcorn … there was Pork Rinds. One of the oldest snack foods in America, Pork Rinds are essentially pieces of pig skin, cooked, flavored and fried. Like popcorn, the frying process pops the little pork squares to 6-times their size. Rudolph Foods is the world’s largest producer of Pork Rinds. The factory in Lima, Ohio produces an amazing 158 million bags of pork rind each year. For “Abenteuer Leben”, we got an exclusive look behind the scenes to see how pig skin (essentially leather) becomes edible. Client: Kabel 1/Abenteuer Leben Airdate: 09/03/05 TRT: 9 min
