Cupstacking
When Galileo aired their first story on German Cupstackers, they didn't realize they had hit upon a phenomenon. It was one of the highest-rated stories they aired in 2006. So, when Germany qualified for the World Cup in Denver, the show called Jynx to produce a 12-minute segment on the team's title quest.
The sport is hard to explain and has to be seen to be fully appreciated. The 12-year-old kids are incredibly fast with their hands.
The most challenging aspect of this story was working around the repetition of action throughout each event. After a while, one cupstacking event just looks like all the others.
We kept the narrative flowing by injecting drama into the story. The audience witnesses the nervous players, the challenges, the mistakes and the triumphs these kids experience. The German relay team, our main focus, has to overcome several hurdles in their quest for gold...
